<aside> đź’ˇ Five Guests. Sixty Minutes. One Unique Topic.

A series of curated online gatherings, where small groups of great people engage in a deep, facilitated discussion around a unique topic — all in the spirit of generating new ideas, new insights, and new connections.

<aside> 🤔 What to Expect When you join for a Jeffersonian Snack, you'll be part of a small, select group (typically five people) gathering virtually for about an hour. Each session will focus on a unique meaningful topic, and each group will be curated to ensure a variety of viewpoints, thoughts, and opportunities to build new connections.

You'll participate in a guided conversation, with a facilitator keeping the discussion engaging and on track. This isn't a webinar or lecture — everyone is encouraged (and expected) to share their thoughts and ideas.

Expect a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where meaningful conversations can happen. The small group size ensures that everyone has a chance to speak and be heard. You'll meet new people from diverse backgrounds, bringing different perspectives to the table.

By the end of the hour, we’ll have explored the topic in depth, gotten to know new people, and gained fresh insights and inspiration. Jeffersonian Snacks are all about thoughtful dialogue and building a community of curious, intelligent individuals. Whether you're a regular or it's your first time, you'll leave feeling inspired and enriched.

<aside> 💌 A Curated Group My goal is to be thoughtful about the diverse make-up of each group. I don’t want too many people who already know each other. Creating valuable new connections is part of the fun. And some topics will be more interesting for some types of people.

So, if you confirm you’re interested in joining sometime, I’ll look for the best opportunity and you’ll get an invitation sharing the date, time, and topic. If you can’t make that particular time (or hate the topic), no worries. We’ll try again another time.

<aside> ⏰ When do they happen? Most of the time, they happen every Tuesday at 10am Pacific Time. (Convert to your time zone, as-needed)

<aside> 🎙️ Will these be recorded? Yes-with-an-asterisk. The full recordings will not be shared publicly. Participants can request a copy.

What I would like to potentially do is identify a handful of “soundbites” from our discussions, and share them as quotes (or possibly short clips) on social media — tagging the guests from that discussion.

<aside> đź“– The Back-Story

Many years ago a friend said to me, “Have you ever thought about throwing a Jeffersonian Dinner? You’d be good at it.”

If you want the ultimate guide to putting on a great Jeffersonian Dinner, check out this PDF. I didn’t write it. Pretty sure it’s exactly the same one I first found 15-odd years ago.

These events are phenomenal at building relationships. I regularly have people mention, over a decade later, how much they enjoyed a particular event. I’ve seen friendships bloom from them. I’ve seen business deals develop as a result of them. I’ve seen a spirited conversation continue all the way from the table to a shared cab to the Upper West Side.

Of course, putting on dinners like these can be time-consuming — and pricey.

Fast-forward to today. I have so many people I’d like to keep up with in a more meaningful way than social media posts. I know so many great people that I wish I could introduce to other great people in a meaningful way. I love facilitating discussions about interesting and innovative topics. I love thinking about thinking.

And we have Zoom.

So I developed a snack-sized version of the Jeffersonian Dinner, and called in Jeffersonian Snacks.

Will it be as impactful as a full Jeffersonian Dinner in person, in a beautiful environment? Probably not.

Will it be a lot easier to schedule and make happen? So much yes.
